Let me get to the point. If you are considering raising your own chicks, whether within your backyard or even in some little farmville farm area and you aren’t using a chicken pen you may be allowing yourself to be set up for a lot of trouble. The thing is, there are a lot of things that could harmfully affect your chicks. Predators are a persistent worry generally and your flock will be particularly at risk. Also, the unavailability of a safe place may reduce overall productivity on your farm. Plus you might be surprised to learn that a chicken cage may not be sufficient to fully protect your chicks. Let us look at all of these one at a time – at the end of which you may choose to look again in case you’ve so far opted to use a chicken pen.

Predators will be the main cause for worry for birds that are not protected by a chicken pen. In particular, your chicks are definitely vulnerable and access to your flock must be limited and managed. Based on where you live, your flock could be set upon from both land and air: Raccoons, foxes, Hawks, Owls, cats and dogs are all known to go after exposed chickens presented with any opportunity. Raccoons often kill chicks through snapping their necks. Foxes consume them whole or otherwise destroy them without eating them selecting to bury them for a later time. Of course all this will deplete your produce whatever you are rearing your chicks for.

When kept inside a chicken house, secured chicks keep their balance and well-being which creates a good effect on their productiveness. When your chicks are in a good condition, they’ll produce much more healthy and generally better-tasting eggs.

To develop on the previous argument, the absence of a chicken coop can really result in decreased productivity. It may have a detrimental impact in overall efficiency of your flock. Chickens need nesting boxes to remain productive. Also, where there is not a nourishing and secure environment ones birds might be noticeably less healthy than they need to be.

And be aware: a good standard cage might not be sufficient. Though giving some safety, your chickens continue to be susceptible to harm and also the cage itself could make escape difficult. Cages will not necessarily prevent predators, as they can kill the birds when they are close enough approaching the borders of the cage. Sometimes the cage doesn’t always offer a nice healthy environment – just picture the actual farms with their chickens crowded together with very little space to move around. Once again this may make your chicks less wholesome than they should be.

Do you see what I’m saying regarding the problems in the lack of a chicken coop? Most people take too lightly the effects and wide variety of predators. They don’t realise the potential drop in productivity and often believe a cage will be ok. So look into it – perhaps a chicken coop is the better way forward for your flock.

Unless we put the Persian cats into particular category it will be impossible to recognize them as in recent times they are coming with a blend of different color coats.

Unless we put the Persian cats into particular category it will be impossible to recognize them as in recent times they are coming with a blend of different color coats.

The Persian cat families have been further separated into groups according to the color of their coats to make it easy for people to recognize them. For example you will find Silver Shadowed, Golden Shadowed, Cameo Shaded and also Red Persian cats.

The majority of the Persian cats are white with usually layers of different colors on just the tips of the coat which is technically known as ticking. But since there is a lot of mixed breeding the coats of the cats can develop into totally different colors like blue-cream.

Again unlike the albino white cats which are hard to find you will see a color that has evolved in Persian cats is red which is quite similar to that of ordinary red cats. The red color has various shades to it and it is not at all pure red that you may visualize, rather it is orange or ginger which also may vary. As a result the cats can have a ticking of white or brown or could be completely red. Most Persian cats of red variety are red all over.

The coat, lips and chin of the red Persians are red. You will discover that the nose leather and the paw pads are brick red while eyes have brilliant copper shade which is totally unlike the Silver Shaded or Chinchillas which have green or blue green eyes. The gorgeous black rims around the eyes will give an impression that they are wearing eye makeup which is common in all Persian be it Silver Shaded, Chinchillas or Red cats.

You would notice that red colors can occur with patches of different colors like cream, white and cameo as well. Let us take the Smoke Tortoiseshell Persian that has a layer of white under coat and deep black tips which stand out conspicuously with random patches of red and cream on the tips too which makes it look like a tortoiseshell.

Along with the fascinating patterns that occurs in this breed of Persian cat, there is sometimes present the blaze of red color or cream tipping on the face which is liked by many people.

You will find that most of the breeds of Persian cats like Shaded, Golden Shaded or Chinchilla have eyes shaded green or blue green. Only the Tortoiseshell Persian cat and the Red colored cat families have eyes that are of brilliant copper colored.

The Red Persian cat tends to be fluffier as well, and has a large mane, but the same squat legs and stocky physic along with the punched face and darkened rimmed eyes. Its chin and lips tend to be of the same color as its coat.

If you have allergies, then you know how terrible they can feel. Your nose won’t stop running, you get that scratchy feeling in the back of your throat that just won’t go away. Your eyes are all read and itchy, and you can’t keep your hand off them. Relieving allergy symptoms is fairly complicated, but there are some general tips that can help. In this article you’ll learn those tips.

Allergies come in many types and varieties. The two most common kinds of allergies are from pollen, and from pets. Pollen allergies are due to the small particle of pollen given off by plants in the springtime. Allergies from animals are due to dry flakes of skin that break off and float around in the air.

Histamine is actually the main culprit in allergy symptoms. Your runny nose, dry cough, and itchy eyes are all because your body is producing histamine. This is one of the many chemicals that your body uses to fight off invaders. The stronger the invading for, or the more the amount of pollen or dry animal skin, the more histamine is produced.

Anti-histamine medication, or medicine that stops the production of histamine is the most common form of over the counter allergy medication. These work pretty good, as they reduce the histamine your body makes, and consequently the symptoms. However, their are some side effects to take into consideration, such as increased blood pressure.

People who have less of a reaction to these particles are generally more healthy, and have stronger immune systems. When the same particles enter their bodies, they don’t need to produce nearly as much histamine. To stay healthy, make sure you sleep enough, and drink enough water. This can really help.

Many people also believe that certain foods can naturally make you more sensitive to these allergy causing particles. According to them, foods like gluten, dairy products, and processed carbohydrates should be avoided at all costs.

Allergies are definitely something to avoid at all costs. Especially if you have pets that you are allergic to, finding a solution is your number one priority.

The symptoms associated with heartworm illness will not be noticeable until eventually the dogs heart has become host for the mature parasitic heartworms. Assuming you make regular yearly visits to your own veterinarian, he will have the ability test your pet dog for heartworm and catch the problem early on.

The early phase of the disease will be when the worm larvae are located in the blood vessels but have not become lodged inside your dog’s heart. Neglecting to have this yearly examination might increase the risk for heartworm infection going undetected until the point where you notice symptoms.

It is actually through understanding how the cycle of heartworm disease progresses that will help to recognise the reason why earlier diagnosis and treatment is essential. It is actually mosquitoes that will pass the problem to your dog and which may pass the infection from one infected pet dog to a new one.

A mosquito bites and injects saliva that contains heartworm larvae. How many adult worms your pet dog may go on to progress is dependent upon the amount of larvae in each bite as well as the number of instances he gets bitten. There could possibly be as many as one hundred mature worms clogging the heart of any severely afflicted canine.

Once larvae have got into the dogs bloodstream through the bites from disease carrying mosquitoes, they start to develop. As these larvae develop fully into adult worms, they will attach them selves to the inside of the dog’s heart chambers. These clog a heart, hindering the flow of blood towards the lungs which will make your dog sluggish as well as reluctant to play or even run and finally will result in death.

If you worry that your dog might have been infected with heartworm through mosquito bites, the signs and symptoms are obvious sleepiness and also unwillingness to play or even run plus an cough which is persistent. Bear in mind that these signs and symptoms are indicative of a variety of trivial ailments and may not be associated with heartworm disease in any way. However, it is a lot better to have your canine friend checked out as only tests by a vet are going to be able to reassure you or maybe confirm your own concerns.

It is so much better to have your dog on a heartworm prevention for dogs treatment program. The sort of therapy and the duration is dependent upon the degree of chance in the region where you are living and the veterinary will be able to give you advice. Heartworm illness is definitely one condition that it is far better to effectively prevent rather than try a cure once an infection has been proved.

Tired of playing tug of war with your best bud? You can stand your ground by buying your dog a dog harness. These invention helps you stay in control at the same time prevents Fido from breaking his neck.

When we try to control our dogs, we instinctively yank them back on their leashes. This can actually produce a whiplash that can later on injure the neck and windpipe. By getting a dog collar instead of a dog harness, you can control your dog safely. Harnesses work by placing resistance on a dog’s chest and axillary area to prevent injury to the neck and throat.

A good idea in letting your dog use the harness is to make him get used to it. The harness’ fit can be off-putting to a dog. You might also want to train him to generate more constructive walks in the future.

When you purchase a harness, it will be a good idea to bring your dog along. Check out the fit of the harness. Ill fitted harnesses can injure him. You can also measure him up if bringing him is quite a hassle. Learn the proper way to measure your dog first. If you think you can’t get this right, buy an adjustable harness.

Aside from ill fitting harnesses, uncomfortable harnesses can make your dog irritable. Since they rub against a dog’s body their most likely to chafe and destroy skin they get in contact to. You might want to consider getting suitable harness for your dog’s fur type.

Be a responsible dog owner by constantly check the fit of your harness from day to day because dogs can have fluctuating weights.

Stand firm with your dog by getting him a dog harness. This safe and convenient gadget will be something Fido will be thankful about when he gets older.

Persian cats have always been regarded as rather regal and grand cats. Pedigree Persian cats are big in body structure and have powerful legs and punched faces with stocky bodies. These cats seem to be a magnet for warmth for those fond of cats and sometimes even for those who are not.

The Persian breed of cats is again categorize on the basis of some of their characteristics. When you check them closely you will find that there are subtle differences in the color of their body hair. There are some outstandingly different features which make the Chinchilla breed stand out.

In 1908 with the Chinchilla Cat Club established, the cats started being exported to the United States. To actually understand and value a Chinchilla Persian cat you need to make sure its a pure-bred cat, and to differentiate whether it surely is a Chinchilla Persian cat or not is to observe the color of its coat since that is the basis on which Persian cats are categorized. The extent of colored hair can vary. For instance a Persian with a black coat, the color would be on only about 1/7th of the hair.

The Chinchilla cats appear as if they have a gleaming silver coat because they have an under coat which is pure white with black tips on the hair of the head, back, tail and flank. These cats also have white hair on their chin, chest, stomach and ear tuffs but the legs are somewhat dotted with black tips.

The main appealing characteristic about these cats is the darkened rim of the eyes that would make you believe them as wearing eye makeup. Also the lips and nose are outlined black.

The tips of the cats coat are not always black as it is evident from Silver Shaded cats. You can see incredible variety of colors ranging from blue to lilac to chocolate. The Silver Shaded has more shadowing in their coats when you compare them to Chinchilla. It is a pleasure to imagine the wonderful outcome of these colors on the coat.

Also there is the Golden Shaded where the underlying coat is multi colored which again is magnificent and a pleasure to see because of the wonderful effect it gives to the coat of the cat. Furthermore there is a variety known as the Cameo Persian which has some red in the tips of the coat.

The eyes are what the Chinchillas are distinguished with. All the Chinchillas, Golden shaded, Silver shaded and Cameo Persian cats of pure breed will have eyes which are either green or blue green. There is a slight difference between the Golden Shaded and the rest of them as far as their rim colors are concerned. While the Golden Shaded would have brown rims surrounding their eyes and nose the rest of them have beautiful dark color rims around their eyes and nose.

Cats are such lovable creatures so it is no wonder why many people pick cats to be their pets. Many cat owners like to cuddle up with their pets and stroke their thick fur. However, cat owners have to cope with various cat problems such as skin problems every now and then. To ensure that your furry friend cat is in good health, check its skin frequently to find out if it’s experiencing any skin issues or not.

When inspecting your pet cat’s skin, you’ll be able to carefully rub its skin with your fingers. Try to find if your cat’s skin has any rough or patchy textures or spots. If you sense anything rough, split the cat’s fur and check closely at its skin. There are several skin conditions that cats experience so it will be good if cat owners know about them.

Apart from locating patchy or rough spots on your cat skins, you will also know in case your pet has skin-related cat problems by observing it. You can ask specialists about them or you can do some library or internet research. Some of the most common symptoms associated with skin problems involve excessive thirst and urination, inactivity, dehydration, and sleepiness.

Most of the skin-related cat problems are because of insect bites, food, or allergies. Insect bites can be contagious or can become infected so it’s safer to seek advice from a vet about what to do best in this sort of situation. Food is also a major reason for many skin-related cat problems. A cat needs to get fine nutrition to prevent having many kinds of skin problems. A cat can also get allergies from the food items it eats. There are also external factors like cleaners and pollen grains contributing to allergies in cats.

Though many skin-related cat problems are essentially non-life threatening, it would still always be best to meet with a vet. Aside from the need to identify the issue as soon as possible, seeking medical advice would be wise. This is necessary so that your cat can get the correct medical assistance and be prescribed with the correct drugs which it needs.

The distress that a puppy experiences when it is left alone at home is commonly referred to as puppy separation anxiety. It is also common for puppies that gave just been brought to its new home to feel puppy separation anxiety. Puppy separation anxiety can also be experienced by a puppy that has been taken away from its mother too early. This condition is also common among puppies that were adopted from shelters.

The symptoms of puppy separation anxiety can range from mild to severe. Some of the mild symptoms include nervousness, anxiousness, and whining while moderate symptoms include constant barking, scratching and digging at doors, and chewing on anything that has your scent like beddings. On the other hand, severe symptoms of puppy separation anxiety include the loss of control over bowel movement, compulsive chewing, and destruction of furniture and the like. Some puppies with separation anxiety hurt themselves in the process when they panic.

When dealing with puppy separation anxiety, remember that you should deal with it because the problem will not just go away. Aside from the behavior modification training approach, there are also a number of natural remedies and ways to deal with puppy separation anxiety. For really bad cases of puppy separation anxiety, you may need to consult with and get the help of a veterinarian. Your pet may need some medications to help it calm down and the vet is the best person to know whether your dog needs one.

You also need to train your pet if you want to prevent puppy separation anxiety from happening. First, do not make so much fuss over your dog is you are about to leave to go somewhere or to run some errands. During the early phase of your training, leave your puppy for short periods of time only alone at home. When you arrive at home, just carry on with your normal movement and tasks and it would be good if you can avoid making any fuss. Avoid making a big deal out of your arriving and leaving.

This way, your pet will learn that it is perfectly normal that you come and go and that it is not something that it should get nervous about. You need to have your pet accustomed to having you leave house every now and then. You need to work hard and be very patient when training your pet. Promoting your puppy’s independence is needed for it to stay calm everytime it is left alone at home.

Dog separation anxiety is what your pet dog feels when it is left alone. These dogs that are having separation anxiety attacks usually whine and bark so much. This can be very irritating and will surely be a source of complaints from your neighbors. There are also instances when some dogs lose bowel movement control when anxious. There are even severe cases where destructive behavior is exhibited by a pet experiencing dog separation anxiety.

If you want to prevent dog separation anxiety, start even before you take home the dog you adopted. Waiting until it is weaned completely will let it have some level of independence from its mother. The best time to take a puppy away from its mother is when it is eight weeks old. If you take a puppy earlier than this, it is more likely to develop dog separation anxiety. Dog separation anxiety is also common among adopted stray dogs and those that came from shelters.

After bringing your new pet home, you should train it if you want to prevent the occurrence of dog separation anxiety. One important thing to remember is not to make so much fuss about your leaving. It would also be good if you could leave behind toys or chewies for your dog in order to distract and to keep it busy while you are away especially during the early parts of the training. You can also try giving your dog treats if it behaves well.

Keep things as normal as possible. When you are about to leave, you should avoid giving your pet extra kisses and hugs. Upon coming back, carry on with your normal tasks as if nothing is the matter. During the early phases of your training, leave your dog alone for short periods of time only.

Slowly and gradually lengthen the time you are away until your dog becomes accustomed to not having you around all the time. If you can resolve the problem of dog separation anxiety with your pet, you will not have to worry every time you go away.

A variety of birds can be found all over the world. Some are wild, some are tamed and some are even used for human consumption. But what humans fail to appreciate is that birds do have their own way of thinking just like other animals or even humans.

Interestingly, there are some birds that thrive in some regions in the world that show signs of intelligence. These wonderful birds exhibit unusual behavior that only intelligent living creatures can do.

These birds can even become your friend and companion due to their thinking power and for their love for attentions.

The most popular bird pet is the African grey parrot. You will surely enjoy the company of this bird because they can sing and speak words like humans. They are also very friendly but be careful not to tell him a secret because he can spit it out.

They are able to repeat every word they hear regularly. Tell them bad words and they say them to you and tell them good words and they do the same. They can even imitate whistle if they hear it often. These talents of them make them entertaining and lovely pets.

Other birds have also their own talent like the tool builders in the name of New Caledonian crows. These birds have extraordinary talent to scout for things and make them useful. Another intelligent bird is the bird from New Zealand, the Kea parrot, which is well known for its ability to solve problems.

Because of their ability to make use of their intelligent, these birds are not welcome in well populated areas. They prefer to live in areas where they can exploit their talent without disruptions.

The birds mentioned above are considered as best bird pets and they can be your friends as well. However, same as the other pets, these exotic birds do need care and attention from a vet.
